The never beginning story Let me tell you a story, how the world came to be. It was told by the stars to the earth, who told me. The old man on the mountain, with his back to the tree, knows exactly as much as I know, as we’ll see. The stars told it thus: At the start was no time and it kept getting on as the light and its shine. For when nothing begins, all has ever been there, It has just been forgotten as a secret to share. But for one to tell, they need one more to hear, for a secret worth sharing is burden so queer, rarely one can endure such a bothersome quest, unless they have a motive to lay it to rest. So from one became two that had ever been there, for each moment that passes is but passable glare, and the two shared their secret with a feeling of glee, so you see in this moment was seeded the tree. The tree’s roots they go down, here they founded the past, while its branches grow upward and aim for the last, the moment that’s coming, but never will

Alles muss brennen, sie sollen rennen vor meinem Feuer, dem Ungeheuer, das ich erschaffe, ehe zu Asche alles zerfällt. Ich aber steige im Tod der Zweige auf roten Böen in neue Höhen. Sehe von oben, wie sie dort toben, die ich berief. Ich bin der Meister, rufe euch Geister, die schon beschworen, nun auserkoren heut mir zu dienen bei meiner Jagd, seid unverzagt. Feuer ich fasse, brenne zu Asche, was mir behagt. Auf Feuers Schwingen will ich euch bringen mein Meisterwerk, den Feuerberg. In Flammen stecke ich Baum für Baum, Hecke für Hecke, alle Verstecke, dass alles flieht, wenn es mich sieht oben am Himmel. Glutwinde tragen mich auf den Funken, wo ich versunken in meinen Träumen schon neuen Bäumen bringe im Tod ein neues Leben. Alle die rennen, will ich verbrennen mit kaltem Feuer im Ungeheuer, das ich umfasse; alles zu Asche in mir zerfällt.
